Title: DEADLINE EXTENDED-S-L Research

Dear Service-Learning
Colleagues:
The pre-registration deadline for the 1st
Annual Conference on Service-Learning Research, to be held in
Berkeley, CA, October 21-23, has been extended from September
20th to THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th. Due to the postal
service slow down, we will honor the pre-registration rate of $335 for
all registrations received by 5:00 PM, September 27th.
IMPORTANT: Please note that the hotel
rate of $119/night at the Berkeley Marina Radisson (conference hotel)
expires this Thursday, September 20th. If you plan on attending
the conference, please make your room reservations ASAP. The
hotel number is 800-243-0625. When making the
reservation, identify yourself as a participant of the
"Service-Learning Research Conference" in order to receive
the special rate. Please note that the room rate is subject to
room availability.
The conference registration form can be
downloaded from the UC Berkeley Service-Learning website at
http://GSE.BERKELEY.EDU/RESEARCH/SLC (use lower case letters).
A copy of the PRELIMINARY CONFERENCE PROGRAM, which lists the
scheduled sessions and speakers, is also available at this website for
viewing and downloading.
This research conference will feature close to 80 sessions, 100
presenters, and a series of featured speakers including Janet Eyler,
Dwight Giles, Rob Shumer, Shelley Billig, and Bob
Bringle.
Generous support for the conference has been provided by the W.K.
Kellogg Foundation, Spencer Foundation, Campus Compact, RMC Research,
Compact for Learning and Citizenship, American Association for
Community Colleges, California State University System, AACTE,
Community-Campus Partnerships for Health, American Youth Policy Forum,
California Governor's Commission on Service, Council of Chief State
School Officers, and the University of California, Berkeley.
The conference is hosted by the Service-Learning Research &
Development Center at the University of California-Berkeley.
