National Rally for Afterschool Programs
07 September 2001 00:01 UTC
REMINDER:
Lights On Afterschool! is only a month away…
Don’t miss this critical opportunity…
Sign up for an event kit TODAY!
Join thousands of communities across the nation and the Afterschool Alliance
in sounding a rallying cry for afterschool programs on Thursday, October 11,
2001.
Afterschool programs, parents, youth, schools and community groups across
the nation will hold rallies to celebrate their programs, and demonstrate
how they’re keeping kids safe, helping working families and improving
academic achievement.
Hosting an event at your afterschool program will:
*build community support for your program,
*increase your community’s awareness and appreciation of your program,
*foster new partnerships among elected officials, local media, business
leaders, community groups, parents, etc.,
*showcase the value your program brings to the lives of youth and the
community at large, and
*contribute to the national movement calling attention to the need for more
afterschool programs.
