November 5-7, 1999 --- for: Andrews & McMeel Third Annual Conference
"Summer Service Learning: 
Community and Citizenship in the 21st Century"


GOALS:	

* to increase awareness of summer months as an opportunity for
service - learning in a for-credit program.

* to network and share success and pitfalls from other institutions,

* to explore several models that may be replicated at other schools.





KEYNOTE ADDRESS: 	Frances Moore Lappé

Author and/or co-author of 12 books including "Rediscovering
America's Values" and "The Quickening of America: Rebuilding 
our Nation, Remaking our Lives," and co-founder of Food and 	
Development Policy and the Center for Living Democracy. 


We encourage schools to send teams of 2-3 people made up of faculty and staff.

The conference will begin Friday evening with dinner and will conclude with
brunch on Sunday morning. The schedule will include such topics as: the pedagogy of
service-learning, academic challenges, agency perspective, student issues, obstacles and opportunities of partnerships, and an exhibit of existing programs and ideas.

We encourage participants to bring materials about their programs for display.

All activities will be held at the McKenna Hall on campus with rooms at the Morris Inn across the street.  Registration will be through the Center for Social Concerns.  Food will be provided free of charge.	

Rooms are:	Single occupancy -    $82
Double occupancy -  $92


Registration Fee:  $120.00 for a team of two......
