EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Job Opening
City Year is a national service organization which unites young adults,
ages 17 to 24, from diverse, racial, cultural, educational and
socioeconomic backgrounds for a demanding year of full-time community
service, leadership development and civic engagement. Today, over 800
corps members are serving in City Year programs in Boston (MA), Chicago
(IL), Columbia (SC), Columbus (OH), Cleveland (OH), Rhode Island, San
Antonio (TX), San Jose (CA) and Philadelphia (PA). City Year seeks to
address unmet community needs, break down social barriers of class and
race, inspire civic action, and strengthen the bonds of community. By
tapping the energy and commitment of young people, City Year is "Putting

City Year Rhode Island is currently accepting resumes for the position of
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR to powerfully lead the Rhode Island program with vision
and idealism.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Internal Management
* Hire and direct a competent and diverse staff in their assignments
* Manage day to day fundraising/resource development and fiscal operations
* Direct efforts to recruit a diverse corps which represents the
communities it serves
* Ensure leadership and professional development opportunities are created
for corps and staff
* Prepare annual succession planning document
* Keep corps and staff motivated by providing constant feedback
* Establish goals and conduct annual performance for direct reports.
Ensure goal setting and performance reviews happen for all site staff
* Utilize National Human Resources to ensure compliance with state and
national guidelines
External Management
* Build and maintain a network of champions committed to supporting City
Year and community service
* Work with local advisory board to:
1. Develop a strategic plan
2. Continuously evaluate City Year's impact in the community
3. Leverage relationships for financial support of program
* Prepare a strategic plan for leveraging community resources
* Direct community relations, public affairs and external communications
* Direct and review external communication relating to fundraising,
sponsor programs, service partners, etc., ensuring consistency with City
Year National program
* Represent and promote City Year in public and private forums
The Executive Director reports to the National Site Director, headquartered
in Boston and supervises an Operations Director, Development Director and
additional staff.

POSITION SALARY AND BENEFITS
City Year provides competitive salaries commensurate with experience and a
comprehensive benefits package. City Year reviews salaries annually based
on job performance.
