The Student Coalition for Action in Literacy Education is a national

needs
of this country through partnerships with community agencies, service
organizations, new readers, students, faculty and administrators.

With the support of Learn and Serve America: Higher Education, the W.K.
Kellogg Foundation, and Time Warner, Inc., SCALE is expanding
Clearinghouse services and sponsoring trainings across the country to
continue the support of college students involved in literacy programs.
To find out more information about other Clearinghouse resources,
including publications, trainings, and conferences, call 919/962-1542.

The Regional Trainings will engage college students in participatory
workshops on literacy philosophy and techniques, as well as provide
information on organizing literacy awareness and advocacy events. As a
participant, you will have the opportunity to reflect on your literacy
work and network with other literacy activists. Each training will run
from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon and will unite your voice with
over 100 others.
