Position Title Working Title: AmeriCorps*VISTA Program Director UW-System Title: Outreach Specialist (Range 4)
Position Description Wisconsin Campus Compact (WiCC) seeks an AmeriCorps*VISTA Program Director who is a passionate service-learning advocate, experienced manager/administrator, and committed educator. The AmeriCorps*VISTA Program Director will provide support for up to 35 AmeriCorps*VISTA members serving throughout Wisconsin at WiCC affiliates and partnering agencies. The responsibilities of the AmeriCorps*VISTA Program Director consists of the overall management and administration of a statewide AmeriCorps*VISTA service-learning program designed to improve academic achievement and aspirations of low income K-8 students, including the following activities:
Organization and Project Overview The Wisconsin K-16 AmeriCorps*VISTA Service-Learning Project is coordinated by Wisconsin Campus Compact (WiCC), which is housed at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Wisconsin Campus Compact (WiCC) is a coalition of 28 college and university presidents and chancellors dedicated to strengthening civic engagement and service-learning partnerships between Wisconsin’s postsecondary institutions and the communities they serve. WiCC is committed to working with K-16 institutions and community/faith-based organizations that focus on fostering civic responsibility and responding to local community needs and is particularly supportive of after-school, tutoring, and mentoring programs for Wisconsin’s neediest children.
Salary and Benefits The pay range is between $36,475 and $41,828, commensurate with previous experience. Full university benefits provided. The position is funded on an annual basis and is contingent upon continued program funding from the Corporation for National Service AmeriCorps*VISTA program.
Qualifications Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in a relevant discipline and at least 3 years of experience with community-based learning and/or community service program development. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of individuals are required. Supervisory, training, and resource development experience is desirable. It is preferred that the candidate demonstrate success in any or all of the following areas (a) supervising others, (b) training, (c) service-learning and/or civic engagement program development, and/or (d) building successful educational partnerships. Applicants should also be proficient in using the Internet, e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheet/database software.
