Re: Request for one-time service learning activities

Kate: Since our university is located in a small town, we try
to work with projects that would alklow for large groups to
participate. Things we have tried include, clean-up of
specific
campus and town areas, landscaping the downtown area
under the guidance of the Main Street office, helping to
spruce up a major lake/ntaional forest near our campus.
We have also had groups work on two Habitat sites at the
same time from about 8:30 am to 3:00 pm which the students
really enjoyed. Last year, our campus Golden Key chapter
held a hunger bowl-a-thon and all the monetary and food donations
went to the local food pantry. By making it a bowling event,
many
students participated and it was a success. Hope this helps.

Hello-
In event planning for Make a
Difference day on our Campus, I've found several activities that are
appropriate for larger, urban schools but I'm still looking for ideas
that would work well in a small, rural community. Please let me
know if you have any ideas for accessible, one-time activities that a
large number of students could participate in.
Thanks.
