S-L and Latin American Studies

Greetings!

I am working with the director of the Center for American and World
Cultures at Miami University to develop a grant proposal that seeks
funding to enhance academic programming initiatives across the range of
disciplines within our Latin American Studies (including Caribbean and
Latino) program.  Our campus continues to deepen its commitment to
academic service-learning and we wish to strengthen our Latin American
Studies program by incorporating service-learning within the
curriculum.  We seek suggestions or nominations of individuals who
might be interested in a contractual agreement to provide guidance in
developing appropriate service-learning initiatives within Latin American
Studies.  We are particularly interested in how service-learning can
be utilized within the context of language instruction, especially
Spanish and Portuguese; but we are also interested in utilizing
service-learning within other disciplines including political science,
economics, geography, history, and anthropology that contribute to Latin
American Studies.
