Dear Service-Learning Colleagues,

This in from the Department of Service-Learning Staff at the Corporation
for National Service
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings Everyone,

As you probably have heard, Marilyn Smith, the devoted Director of the
Department of Service-Learning, will be leaving the Corporation for
National Service on November 3, 2000, to become Executive Director of
Communities In Schools located in Alexandria, Virginia. This is a
wonderful opportunity for Marilyn and we are extremely happy and excited
for her. With the mission of Communities In Schools, we will undoubtedly
continue to have a long and effective relationship with Marilyn and her
new staff. Nevertheless, we will miss her leadership, guidance and humor
and will never be able to replace her!

We are planning a farewell party at 3:00 pm on November 3 here at the
Corporation in conference room 8410. If you are in the area, please stop
by for some light refreshments and to bid Marilyn farewell. It would
really make her happy!

However, if you are unable to attend the gala, we would love to include a
note from you to Marilyn. We plan to present her with a collection of
letters at the farewell party. These letters will be bound and presented
to her as a remembrance of her time at the Corporation. Please send your
letter by Wednesday, November 1, 2000 to:
