Network Information Specialist
Background: Campus Compact, based at Brown University, was founded in 1985 by the presidents of Brown, Georgetown and Stanford. It is a national membership organization, of 680 college and university presidents committed to helping students develop the values and skills of civic participation through involvement in public service. Member campuses are bonded together as a coalition, actively supporting presidents, faculty, staff and students to reach into the community, to build partnerships and improve the social and economic well being of American communities. We are the only higher education association whose primary purpose is to support campus-based public and community service.
Campus Compact's rapidly expanding membership includes public and private, two- and four-year colleges and universities, located in 44 states and the District of Columbia. To help serve the needs of the 680 members, Campus Compact has a network of 22 state-based Campus Compacts located in CA, CO, CT, FL, HI, IL, IN, MA, ME, MI, MN, MT, NH, OK, OH, OR, PA, RI, UT, VT, WA, WV, and a National Center for Community Colleges, in Mesa, Arizona. All network offices are affiliated with the national organization, but are separate autonomous organizations.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical assistance and support to our state-based organizations, to increase the quality and quantity of innovative programmatic and organizational models for replication at the state level, and to assist the Network Coordinator in any or all functions related to the aforesaid purpose.
Major Responsibilities:
ß To research, track, organize, compile and disseminate information pertinent to the operations and programs of our existing Network offices'
ß Collect, collate and disseminate information for developing Compacts (e.g., write and document the history of how some of state compacts got started) and provide technical assistance when appropriate.
ß Assist NC with pre and post meeting materials for semi-annual network meetings and other related meetings or conferences or organizational activities that relate to the network.
ß Assist NC with development and production of monthly/bi-monthly Network News bulletin
ß Manage various listervs (ccdir, csdlist, ivylist)
ß Assist NC with all duties related to providing technical assistance to existing and developing state Compacts, including travel when necessary
Skill Required:
ß Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
ß Exceptional organizational skills with a creative bent towards information management
ß Intermediate to Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, File Maker Pro; ability to make tables, charts, graphs, and compile statistics and other information into appealing graphics; desktop publishing helpful but now required
ß Ability to edit and synthesize information into concise written materials
ß Ability to work independently, and meet deadlines
ß Bachelors Degree Required; knowledge of/background in community service a plus
