The Points of Light Foundation, a national, non-partisan, nonprofit
organization, whose mission is to engage more people more effectively in
volunteer service to help solve serious social problems, is seeking to fill
two positions in its Youth Outreach unit:
1) Director, Youth Outreach
2) Manager, Technical Assistance, Training and Consulting, Youth Outreach

THE POINTS OF LIGHT FOUNDATION
POSITION DESCRIPTION #1
Position Title: Director, Youth Outreach
Department: Youth Outreach
Position reports to: Vice President, Youth Outreach
This position description identifies major responsibilities of this job. It
does not include all aspects of the position such as the potential additional
duties assigned by supervisors and the requirement for flexibility in helping
others for the Foundation's overall benefit.
Position Summary: (the major purpose for this position):
To develop and manage partnerships and programs that engage young people in
service to help solve serious social problems.
Essential Responsibilities: (those which define the major aspects of the
position and help to determine the degree of success in performance)
· Provide leadership to YES Ambassador Program Team. This includes developing
and managing strategic plan and budget, managing program partnerships, and
managing staff team and consultants in program development and implementation.
· Provide Leadership to Youth Service Days Team. This includes Youth Outreach
involvement in and implementation of national days of service. This includes
Foundation's role as partner in National Youth Service Day and Big Help
Campaign and supporting Youth Outreach constituent involvement in other
service days including MADD, National Family Volunteer Day, MLK Day and Join
Hands Day.
· Supervise Program Associate.
· Act as internal consultant on the youth market to other programs/units as
appropriate.
· Promote and represent Youth Outreach, youth market and Foundation
appropriate.
Position Requirements (Specifies the minimum knowledge, skills, abilities and
education necessary to execute the key responsibilities listed above.)
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
Minimum Experience: Five to seven years experience working in youth service
or related fields (e.g. education, youth development). Specific experience
working with nonprofits, businesses, schools and Volunteer Centers a plus.
Experience working directly with young people. Strong supervisory and program
management skills. Conflict Resolution skills. Relationship/partnership
building skills. Ability to work independently and in a team. Creative
individual, with excellent oral/written communication skills. Attention to
detail and follow through. Ability to multi-task. Dedication to youth voice
and empowerment. Requires significant travel.

Position Title: Manager, Technical Assistance, Training and Consulting
Department: Youth Outreach

This position description identifies major responsibilities of this job. It

others for the Foundation's overall benefit.
Position Summary: (the major purpose for this position):
The purpose of this position is to manage and deliver programs that provide
technical assistance, consulting and training services to Youth Outreach
constituents, including Volunteer Centers, nonprofits, schools and young
people.
Essential Responsibilities: (those which define the major aspects of the
position and help to determine the degree of success in performance)
· Manage Youth Outreach Technical Assistance. This includes developing annual
TA plan, quarterly action plans, monthly and quarterly reports, developing
and maintaining tracking system, developing and updating resource packets and
fact sheets, providing technical assistance, responding to information
requests, monitoring listervs, and coordinating youth outreach technical
assistance with other units in the Foundation.
· Act as liaison and manage role as national partner in the National Service
Learning Clearinghouse and National Service Learning Training and Technical
Assistance Exchange.
· Manage Youth Outreach involvement in training and consulting. This includes
development and delivery of training and consulting, supporting other Youth
Outreach staff in development and delivery and working with Institute staff
re: marketing and logistics.
· Manage Everyone Wins When Youth Service Continuation Grant. This includes
facilitating development of technical assistance web-site and
training/networking meetings for youth program coordinators at Volunteer
Centers.
· Act as internal consultant on the youth market to other programs/units as
appropriate.
· Promote and represent Youth Outreach, youth market and Foundation
appropriate.

service, service-learning or youth leadership/development fields. Training

work independently and in a team. Creative individual with excellent
oral/written communication skills.
