Faculty incentive grants
03 October 2000 01:32 UTC
Hello, everyone,
Thanks to all who responded to my request for faculty incentive grant forms.
They were quite helpful to our grants committee. Several asked me to compile
them and post to the list, so I am sending most of them along. I have pasted
below one of the responses and attached several others. A few files that were
sent did not open, so sorry if yours is missing.
Thanks again,
Jan Shoemaker

From Jeff Howard:
ELIGIBILITY
Proposals are invited from all assistant, associate, or full professors who
hold regular teaching appointments. Because funds are limited, applicants
may request funding up to $1,000. Illustrative items for funding include
student assistance, transportation, guest speaker honoraria, curricular
planning, and community agency support - but not equipment, supplies, or
items normally provided by academic units. The funding period expires August
31, 1999.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
To be considered for funding, applicants should submit a two-to-three page
proposal that includes the course title, semester course will be taught, and
the estimated number of students. It should describe the course objectives,
pedagogical procedures, and a budget for needed resources. And it should
describe how community-based research and service-learning will be integrated
into the course and the expected effects on students and the community.
IMMEDIATE DEADLINE
Proposals must be submitted by November 23 to be considered, with
announcements made by December 3. We regret the immediacy of the deadline
made necessary by the funder's timetable.
Funding for this program is provided by the Bonner Foundation with support
from the Corporation for National Service's Learn and Serve Program.
Proposals should be sent as e-mail attachments to Jeffrey Howard
(jphoward@umich.edu).
NEW COMMUNITY-BASED RESOURCE AT THE UNIVERSITY
A searchable data-base for University - Community Research Partnerships
will link university faculty and students with community-based organizations
seeking research assistance. This data-base may prove helpful to applicants
in identifying community-based organizations that seek researchers. The URL
is:
www.umich.edu/~mserve/ucommresearch.html
Questions about this call or the data-base may be directed to Jeffrey Howard.
Thank you.
