RE: service learning information

Jennifer -
Hello.
As the coordinator of a program that is starting its second year, i "know
where you're coming from." Although you've probably taken these steps, i'll
raise them, just in case...
...ask your students for ideas; many may already be volunteering at places
you've not heard of.
...ask your agency reps about professional organizations that they are
affiliated with. In Cortland, for example, we have the United Way and we have
our "Resource Allocation Committee," which is made up of most of our service
agencies.
...touch base with other campus departments & organizations, such as
Interships and student-run service groups. In our humble home we have "Roots
'n' Shoots," which has links to nation-wide efforts (Habitat for Humanity) and
to local groups.
Hope this helps, Jennifer.
Enjoy!
John Suarez, Coordinator
Center for Service Learning
SUNY Cortland
