FW: Oxfam's Fair Trade Student Organizer Training
30 November 2001 14:39 UTC
Hello S-L Community,
I have been told that my original message was too large for people's email
accounts and computers. I wanted to resend the message with a web link where
you can download the application for the Fair Trade Coffee trainings off the
web. I am sorry for any inconveince. The trainings are a wonderful
opportunity for students to get involved in global issues but make an impact
locally and actually see the fruits of their labor.
I know the deadline is right around the corner, but I believe the folks in
charge would be willing to work with students who really want to be there to
find a compromise. Feel free to pass this on to anyone you think who might
be interested.
Thanks for your time.

Fair Trade Student Organizer Training
Oxfam America is seeking motivated college students to participate in a
free* 3½ day Fair Trade Organizer Training program. The program will train
participants how to organize Fair Trade Coffee Campaigns on their respective
campuses. Student participants will gain skills in organizing, leadership
and communication, as well as a greater understanding of issues related to
trade, poverty and the struggle for global social justice. Students will
have the opportunity to interact with Latin American coffee farmers and
cooperative leaders, representatives from companies that sell Fair Trade
Certified coffee, student activists, and members of the international
development community.
The program is open to college freshmen, sophomores or juniors willing to
commit to organizing a Fair Trade Coffee Campaign on campus. Multiple
applicants from the same college are welcome. To attend, please complete
the application form, found at
