At CSU Monterey Bay, we focus on the "learning outcomes" that a student is
addressing through the service experience. It is not about "doing time"
at a community service site, but rather, being engaged in a service
activity in order to learn something that is related to the course. So,
if a student has two service learning courses on their schedule, they
would be able to process the experience from two different perspectives.
We see it as similar to a student taking two classes that use the same
text or reading. Would they read it twice, or, would they process it in
two different ways.
Hope this helps.
