Director, Center for Community Service Learning and Outreach
La Salle University
Philadelphia, PA

Position Summary

The Director development, implements and administers programs and
activities in the area of community service learning, community service
and community relations. He/she fosters cooperative and mutually
beneficial relationships emphasizing social justice with the immediate
broader community. The Director, through his/her administration of the
Center, contributes to the advancement of the University's mission and to
the promotion of La Sallian values.

Essential Duties
A. The Director conducts strategic planning for and on-going assessment
of the Center's programs and activities.
B. He/she develops and administers the budgets of the Center.
C. The Director supervises the staff of the Center.
D. The Director recruits and trains faculty to implement community
service learning courses.
E. He/she serves as a resource for faculty in community learning as a
pedagogical method.
F. The Director provided counseling, consulting and training for student
groups and individuals to prepare them for informed community service.
G. He/she oversees the Center's function as an initial contact point for
communication between the University and community groups or individuals.
H. The Director develops applications for external grant support of the
Center activities as appropriate and administers grant awarded to the
Center.
I. The Director represents the Center internally and externally.

Other Duties
A. The Director convenes and consults with advisory bodies of the Center.
B. The Director participates in on-going community service.
C. He/she supervises use of Center facilities and equipment.
D. He/she serves as advisor to student groups as appropriate and
requested
F. The Director consults with the Director of Public Relations and the
Director of Governmental Affairs as appropriate to assist in a coherent
and unified public communications program for the University.
G. Other duties as assigned.

Position Classification: full-time, fiscal year appointment

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications are a Master's degree in Social Work, Education or
a related field and three years professional experience in community
service learning at the college/university level. Preferred
qualifications are a doctoral degree in an appropriate field; college
teaching experience, especially in community service learning;
experience in national service; and experience in network and coalition
building.
