ACT PROGRAM COORDINATOR

ORGANIZATION:
Cambridge Community Services (CCS) is a private non-profit organization
whose mission is to identify human service needs in the Cambridge community
and to create collaborative initiatives in response. CCS' current focus is
on youth education and employment.
CCS' Academics for Changing Times (ACT) is part of the national AmeriCorps
program, and engages young people from different backgrounds to join
together in service to the Cambridge community. A diverse group of college
and high school students create and teach academically challenging
after-school programs that provide hands-on service-learning experiences and
other educational activities for hundreds of pre-teens throughout the city.
POSITION:
The ACT Program Coordinator oversees all daily operations of the program.
Her/His direct responsibilities include ---
recruiting high school and college-aged AmeriCorps members.
developing/maintaining partnerships with school-year and summer community
service sites.
coordinating and leading corps member orientation and ongoing training.
supervising corps members' lesson planning and daily teaching activities
at four community service sites.
facilitating corps member leadership in special service projects and
community events.
counseling corps members on higher education, employment options and
career directions.
maintaining records and drafting reports for funding agencies and program
advisory board.
The following qualifications are prerequisites for the position ---
A minimum of five years experience in some combination of teaching,
training, and/or program coordination with a focus on youth (pre-teens and
older).
Knowledge and experience in the area of Community Service Learning.
High level of organization.
Excellent writing skills.
Ability to maintain communication with a wide, diverse group of program
collaborators.
Understanding of program evaluation methods.
Bachelors Degree.
