Hello.
I am attempting to create a student advisory board which will help promote
community service on our campus. I am requesting examples and/or models of
such student groups which may assist in the creation of this new group.
We have little community service activity on our campus at this time. We do
have a few existing service organizations and a handful of service-learning
courses. I would like to create an advisory board which has representatives
from a variety of different service groups, academic majors, and ethnic
backgrounds. The advisory board may host our volunteer fairs, operate the
Record of Community Service database, and work with our local AmeriCorps
program. The goal of the board will be to promote and expand community
service across campus.
This board will become active during the fall of 1998. I am searching for
resources which may be helpful in creating such a board. Ideas, links,
models, and/or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
