MESSAGE FROM HARRIS WOFFORD
Last Thursdsay night, the House and Senate both passed a revised Emergency
Supplemental Appropriations bill that does not include any rescission of
national service funds. The immediate threat that appeared when the House
proposed legislation to take $250 million away from national service has
passed. The White House was strong in insisting that the national service
cuts be removed from the bill and many members of Congress were vocal in
support of national service and spoke about the outstanding service being
done by all branches of the national service family.
We have other challenges before us, but that dark cloud has passed. We will
keep you posted as legislative developments unfold. Many thanks for your
interest and support.
