Re: Evaluation of Learning in Community-based Education
12 May 2003 19:05 UTC
Colleagues:
A months ago, I posed the following question to the listserv…on behalf of
someone in CA.
“Do you know if anyone has done a bibliography (annotated?) on research done on
the evaluation of learning in community-based programs?”
I received a few responses, including one from Sarena Seifer, who asked an
important question to gain some clarity on the question. I also received
several emails from folks who wanted to receive a summary of the responses. I
was unable to get any clarification from the person who originally posed the
question, as to what she was specifically looking for. I have summarized the
responses below. Thanks to all those who contributed. Elaine

Hi Elaine - what do you mean by community-based programs? Service-learning run
by community-based organizations?
Please clarify and will try to be helpful

Elaine,
Have you checked the At a Glance on the Compact website? It may a partial
answer.

Elaine,
I believe that CNCS did an evaluation of community-based
service-learning. Dr. Larry Bailis from Brandeis University has worked
with them and us on community-based research. You might contact him.
You can reach him at bailis@brandeis.edu.
