Dear Service-learning Colleagues,

We received this faculty position announcement from a colleague at the
University of Portland and thought some of you might be interested (or
know others who may be)

"We at the University of Portland have an opportunity for “the right
person” to really make a mark in the area of TEACHING, service and
scholarship. Our university sits in North Portland, Oregon in a
culturally diverse and vibrant community comprised of proud multiethnic
neighbors. In all of my years in community health and in nursing
education, I have never seen a richer environment for collaborative
practice. Multnomah County Health Department and the State Health
Division are just minutes from the University. The churches and school
health nurses are collaborative community partners. Our students are
making a difference and we value service learning.

We are looking for that “right” faculty person who will teach in the
undergraduate program as we convert our curriculum to a competency
outcomes based program. At the same time, this “right” person will
provide leadership and have teaching opportunities in our federally
funded graduate program—Leadership in Health Care Systems, which is a
community health advanced practice track. We currently have 25 students
in the community health emphasis area and about 250 undergraduate
students with growing enrollments that are up 20% from three years ago.

Qualifications include: an earned doctorate in nursing or related field;
master’s degree in nursing; recent clinical and classroom experience;
evidence of scholarly activities; and eligibility for Oregon RN
licensure. Review of applications will commence upon receipt and
continue until positions are filled. Salaries are competitive
commensurate with education and experience. Benefits are excellent
including tuition remission for eligible dependent children at the
University of Portland and at over 400 consortium schools.

We are a teaching intensive university where faculty are engaged in
scholarship within the Boyer Model.
