Working hours:  Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Resume Required $3,865 - 
$5,231 per month

The Coordinator of Service Learning will provide leadership and facilitate the 
development of instructional programs and curricular activities in service 
learning courses across the curriculum.  The Coordinator will organize faculty 
development programs and provide support for service learning teaching; head a 
campus service learning center; develop service learning assessment criteria; 
and coordinate academic policy concerning the service learning designation 
process.  Duties will include: coordinate with faculty, students, and community 
partners to develop and refine service-based approaches to teaching and 
learning; engage in curriculum development and teaching of service learning 
courses that contribute to the development of the service learning discipline; 
engage in a strategic planning process for service learning which includes all 
interested constituents; facilitate the development of a campuswide service 
learning approach and program design; coordinate programs and the staff of the 
campus service learning office; provide information to students in classroom 
settings about service learning as an integral part of the Office of Service 
Learning; conduct professional development workshops, coordinate professional 
development activity, and assist faculty throughout the curriculum to integrate 
service with instruction; provide information to faculty about the potential 
needs of the service learning curriculum; consult with faculty and academic 
administrators and assist academic departments in addressing service learning 
through their majors to improve university programs and curriculum; design and 
deliver activities, presentations, and course elements that increase instructor 
effectiveness in providing service learning instruction throughout the 
curriculum; may teach service learning courses as well as specially constructed 
courses that combine academic matter with specially designed techniques; 
coordinate efforts to establish assessment criteria of the service learning 
experiences throughout the university; w
of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to develop and implement a 
university-wide, and partnership approach to the service learning model; serve 
on university committee and represent the university to local and extended 
academic and related communities of interest; oversee program budget; and 
perform other duties as assigned. 
Minimum Qualifications: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or 
university in a related field plus upper division or graduate course work in 
counseling techniques, interviewing and conflict resolution or other related 
coursework AND four years of progressively responsible professional student 
services work experience which includes experience in advising students 
individually and in groups, and in analysis and resolution of complex student 
services problems.  A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, 
Social Work or a job-related field may be substituted for one year of 
professional experience.  Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures and 
practices of a service learning program or the ability to quickly acquire such 
knowledge; general knowledge of the policies, practices and activities of 
Student Services programs; general knowledge of the principles, problems, and 
methods of public administration, including organizational, personnel and 
fiscal principles, problems and methods of public administration, including 
organizational, personnel and fiscal management; general knowledge of advanced 
statistical and research methods; ability to carry out very complex assignments 
without detailed instructions; ability to advise students individually or in 
groups on varied and complex matters; ability to determine the appropriate 
course of action and proper techniques to utilize while engaged with 
individuals and groups in personal interactions of a sensitive nature; ability 
to reason logically and analyze and solve organizational and operating problems 
of one or several program areas; ability to plan, coordinate and initiate 
actions necessary to implement administrative or group decisions or 
recommendations; ability to analyze and define complex organizational, policy 
or procedural problems, collect and evaluate data, draw valid conclusions and 
project consequences of various alternative courses of action; ability to 
understand the roles and responsibilities of others and to gauge relationships
variety of the interrelationships, motivations and goals of the members of the 
organization served; and ability to establish and maintain effective, 
cooperative and harmonious working relationships in circumstances which involve 
the denial of requests or the necessity to persuade others to accept a 
different point of view.  
Specialized Skills Desired:  Master’s Degree in a related field preferred; two 
years of progressively responsible teaching and/or administrative experience, 
preferably with service learning expertise; familiarity with curricular and 
support services in higher education; working knowledge of university level 
teaching, service learning theory, principles, practices, and applications; 
supervision experience and skills; excellent written and oral communication 
skills; ability to inform and encourage productive teamwork across campus 
constituencies, including faculty, staff and administrative workers in all 
divisions and departments.
