Okay, that's interesting, because I was thinking this project could be
implemented just about ANYWHERE in the U.S. For example, I have community
development experience in Liberal, KS, pop. ~19,000, where there are over 20
different nationalities in the community, with a historic black community
that has been economically suppressed for years. In addition, the Hispanic
community has grown to approximately 40% of the population, including a
range from well-established residents to illegal immigrants. Then, there is
a large number of Vietnamese and other southeast Asian groups. I imagine
you could get into any of these various groups and experience a totally
different culture- in terms of food, traditions, language, ideas, etc... all
within the U.S. I would be interested in seeing a team go to Britain & live
& work with a black community (if that exists), then have a team go to a
place like Liberal, KS and do the same thing. Your comparison could come
from the students' reflections, I suppose.
Sorry, I'm not helping much in you finding a site in Britain! I just like
this topic. :)
