WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY STAFF VACANCY
POSITION
SUMMARY: Works independently. Responsible for the Volunteer Service and Service Learning
programs. Assists the director in
planning and implementing student leadership programs. Essential Functions: ·
Develops and manages student volunteer service
programs through the Volunteer Service Corps and other student organizations. ·
Coordinates the Pro Humanitate Service-Learning
Fund through planning and advisory committees.
Collaborates with the Teaching and Learning Center to provide training,
implementation and general support for service-learning programs through the
curriculum (e.g. ACE Fellows, Pro Humanitate Scholars). ·
Manages the various international and domestic
student service trips (e.g. City of Joy, Hope Scholars, Tie That Binds, Wake
Alternative Break). Works with other
Wake Forest offices to develop funding for these service trips. ·
Manages large scale service programs (e.g.
Project Pumpkin, CARE Projects, WILD). ·
Collaborates with Academic Affairs to promote
curricular and co-curricular educational programs. ·
Establishes relationships with the nonprofit
community in Winston-Salem to offer services through staff, faculty and student
volunteer programs which impact sustainable community changes. ·
Identifies and provides references for summer
and post-graduate service opportunities. QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience & Training: Master's degree in College Student Personnel or
related field with one year of student affairs experience or an equivalent
combination of education and experience.
One year of direct supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills,
Ability: ·
General knowledge of Student Development Theory. ·
Specific knowledge of volunteerism and service
learning. ·
Ability to practice effective communication
skills both verbally and in writing. ·
Ability to practice effective presentation and
training skills. ·
Ability to practice effective program planning,
implementation and evaluation skills. ·
Ability to interact with diverse constituents. ·
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Netscape. Physical Requirements: Sedentary work.
Talking; Hearing; Repetitive Motions.
Close visual acuity. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental
