The Lehigh University Community Service Office invites applications and
nominations for the position of VISTA.  The VISTA will work with the
Community Service Program Coordinator and the undergraduate Community
Assistants in the implementation and expansion of numerous community
service programs as well as help to provide a more unified approach to
serving the community.  This VISTA position is sponsored by the
Pennsylvania Campus Compact and provides an exciting career opportunity.

Candidate Qualifications:

* Completed a college degree
* Community based experience
* Excellent communication and organization skills
* Ability to work with diverse populations
* Experience in training and supervising others
* A full year commitment with the ability to be flexible

Job Responsibilities:

* Assist the Community Service Program Coordinator with the training of
students and student groups on how to seek out community service
opportunities.
* Collaborate with the local community members to create a tutoring
program that addresses the specific needs of the adults and youth in the
community.
* Cooperate with the Financial Aid Office to coordinate the
implementation of community work-study placements in area non-profit
agencies.
* Create and implement the PSOM (Profound Service Once a Month) program.

* Establish new service programs to serve needs of the local Hispanic
community.
* Institute a University wide Hunger and Homeless Awareness week.
* Oversee the tracking of volunteers.
* Supervise the undergraduate Community Assistants in the implementation
of their specific community programs (e.g. Bowling for Kids, Boys and
Girls Club Mentor Program, YMCA Mentor Program, Cultural Connections,
etc.)

Compensation:

* $8998.08 living allowance
* A $4725 education award or monthly stipend after completion of the
full year of service
* Relocation allowance for those relocating more than 50 miles
* Medical coverage
* Paid personal time
* Paid sick leave
* University scheduled holidays
* Access to transportation for work related travel
* Life insurance
* Child care benefits if eligible
