seeking consultant referrals

Hi all,

We at CSUSB will be working over the next 2 or so years to convene and solidify a diverse advisory board that itself enacts/embodies core values of service-learning while at the same time guiding the "institutionalization" of SL here on our campus. Clearly, this will be a complicated process. We are fortunate to have some funding for a consultant to assist us, and I am emailing to ask members of this list if you have any consultant referrals given our specific needs (see below).

We already have been in contact with one consultant who is interested in this work; her qualifications are impressive. I would also really appreciate referrals from members of this list.

Here's some information on what we would like in a consultant (with some clarification notes below the list):
*Demonstrated expertise in group-building and strategic planning processes

*Demonstrated expertise in diversity training

*Demonstrated understanding the "meta-values" of service- learning

*Experience working in higher education

*Experience working in non-profit organizations

*Experience with service-learning (as a community partner, teacher and/or student)

*Understanding of CUP's [Community-University Partnership's] mission (we don't expect a consultant to know all about CUP from the beginning, but rather to be able to understand its basic mission of using collaborative, respectful community-university partnership processes to have a positive impact on the overall well being of communities in this area)

The meta-values to which we refer are reciprocity, collaboration, reflection/self-reflection and diversity. And speaking of the word "diversity," we have a specific take on what that's about -- we're interested in someone whose approach to "diversity work" clearly incorporates useful and thoughtful attention to the complex power dynamics (e.g., overt AND subtle manifestations of oppression and privilege) around race, gender, class, sexual orientation, age, education etc etc etc.

If you know of -- or ideally, have worked with -- someone who you think would fit the above, could you please send me information about them and/or forward this email to them and ask them to get in touch with me? Our decision timeline will be rather short, so the sooner the better. My new email address is golden@csusb.edu and my phone is 909-880-7642.

Oh, and by the way, I have not forgotten the request from many months ago for me to post a list of SL resource library suggestions that came to me from members of this listserve. Due to budget red tape and other fun stuff, I am still compiling this list but WILL have it before the end of our academic year (late June) at the latest and will post it to this list by then. Thanks for your patience!

Best,
Michelle
