Hi EVERYBODY!
I have been asked to give an info session at our Summer Freshman
Orientations about Service Learning. I have one hour. While I intend to
tell about what the SL Office does here (America Reads/Alternative Spring
Break/Walk-in Volunteer Resource Ctr/Faculty Dev in SL)--whech will take
all of about 10 minutes--I have been trying to think of an activity that
entering freshmen might enjoy that gets them thinking about Service
learning/community service and lets them interact w/other new students.
I tend to be really good at coming up with reflection/cerbral type
things, but have a hard time finding games or activities that freshman
enjoy and don't think are dumb or too touchy-feely. Also, I need something
that doesn't require money or too many "props"!
If you have ideas or resources, please send them to me at
kkjohn01@gwise.louisville.edu
Thanks, Kim Johnson/Service Learning Coordinator at the University of
Louisville.
