Amy,
I knew I'd find more resources. The International Partnership for
Service-Learning just sent me a great publication called, "Service-Learning
in Higher Education Around the World: An Initial Look". It was written by
Howard Berry and Linda Chisholm and is available from the Partnership
(http://www.ipsl.org).
"Service-Learning in Higher Education Around the World: An Initial Look"
reports on the results of a survey sent to service-learning practitioners
around the world. The chapters address the following issues: chapter one
looks at educators reasons for initiating and developing service-learning
programs; chapter two looks at community needs that are being met by
students; chapter three presents models of service-learning programs;
chapter four addresses related issues; chapter five depicts six outstanding
examples from Liberia, Connecticut, Mexico, India, Scotland, and
Philippines; and chapter six looks at the state of service-learning now and
in the future. The book does a good job of highlights the geographic areas
that are discussed and while Northern Ireland is not discussed England and
Scotland are.
Have a good weekend! Ann
