Assistant Dean and Director, Public Service Center
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Massachusetts Institute of Technology seeks an experienced professional
for the position of Assistant
Dean and Director of the Public Service Center. MIT stresses
programmatic opportunities for students to
learn and grow outside of the classroom experience. Located in
Cambridge, Massachusetts, MIT is the
world leader in science, engineering education, and research serving
9,800 students.
The Position
Provides Institute support, advice, direction and vision for the Public
Service Center (PSC). Encourages
growth and development of PSC programs, student groups and individuals
through increased awareness
of volunteer programs and opportunities. Sets priorities for the PSC in
support of its mission to increase
student participation in public service activities. Works with other
Institute departments and committees
(e.g. Steering Committee, Advisory Board) to further develop policies
and programs which support this
mission. Oversees administrative and financial operations of the PSC.
Qualifications
Master's degree preferred, Bachelor's required. Five to seven years
experience in public service or student
oriented activities in a university setting required. Excellent
interpersonal, organizational, communication,
and supervisory skills essential. Demonstrated commitment to the
promotion of community service and
volunteerism is strongly desired. Ability to work independently
required. Familiarity with MIT student
organizations and undergraduate programs helpful.
