Applications are now being accepted for the full-time, 10-month, exempt
position of Director of Community Service Center at
North Central College in Naperville, IL.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the day-to day operation of the Community Service Center and serve
as a clearinghouse for community service information for all members of the
campus community.
Oversee registration, recruitment, training/orientation, placement and
reflection activities of student volunteers. Advise the student community
service organization.
Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate the Student Assistant Director and
any other Community Service Center staff.
Establish and maintain positive contact with community service agencies;
conduct regular site visits, investigate new sites when appropriate. Assess
program effectiveness through volunteer and agency evaluation.
Assist in planning and coordinating of the "Into the Streets" component of
freshmen orientation; provide activities and information during the
National Volunteer Week.
Assist Financial Aid in coordinating the selection committee for the "Make
a Difference" Scholarships; supervise, monitor and document volunteer
placements for scholarship recipients.
Provide educational opportunities for the campus community on
service-related issues through programs, speakers and the web-site; create
service opportunity publications; organize volunteer recognition events.
Set participation goals; ensure service hours, number of volunteers and
participating agencies are recorded on a database spreadsheet; present the
data in term and year-end reports.
In association with faculty, develop opportunities and coordinate resources
to incorporate service-learning in class projects and curriculum.
Maintain communication and cooperation between the Community Service Center
and various campus departments; represent the Community Service Center on
several campus committees; serve as President’s liaison to Illinois Campus
Compact and other state and national organizations; plan and implement
collaborative projects with other colleges and universities.
Oversee reservation, billing and overall maintenance for two campus vans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree, required.
At least one year of experience in volunteer administration, community
service, supervising others, developing programs and working in a
computerized office environment, is also preferred.
Excellent communication, spelling and grammatical skills, including the
ability to deal effectively and pleasantly with students, faculty,
administration, staff and the general public.
Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects at various
levels of completion.
Ability to work irregular hours which includes evenings and weekends.
A valid driver’s license is required.
