Assistant Director for Service-Learning

The University of Southern Mississippi's Office of Community
Service-Learning (OCSL), located in the Division of Student Affairs,
operates as the only office of its kind in the state of Mississippi,
serving as a model for other institutions of higher learning throughout
the state and region.  We are looking for a dedicated service-learning
professional who can maintain our current leadership position while
moving the program in line with the University's new Strategic Plan. 
The candidate must be self-directed and willing to provide dynamic and
innovative leadership to plan, implement, administer, and evaluate a
comprehensive program for the office. Other requirements include
experience with a campus-based service-learning and volunteer program; a
commitment to service-learning; demonstrated ability to write grants;
strong interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills;
effective written and verbal communication skills; and a working
knowledge of computers.  Bachelor's required but master's preferred. 
Salary negotiable based on experience.
 
The University of Southern Mississippi is a comprehensive public
institution with an enrollment of 14,400.  It is the second largest
institution of higher learning in Mississippi, offering 93 degree
programs for undergraduates, 62 master's degree programs, and 26
doctoral degree programs.  Hattiesburg (population 65,000) is considered
the educational and medical hub of South Mississippi, offering the
multicultural influences of traditional Southern hospitality and famous
New Orleans Creole cuisine, and the recreational opportunities and
atmosphere of the beautiful Gulf Coast -- all within driving distance. 
Hattiesburg is located 90 miles south of Jackson, 75 miles north of the
Gulf Coast, and 105 miles north of New Orleans.
