Community Service Learning Assessment Tools?
16 May 2000 17:29 UTC
Hi all. I've been a lurker for about a year and first want to thank
all of you for the information provided during that time. I was new
to SL when I joined and, while no expert, have been helped by your
info.
I have a project wherein we would like to determine our community's
understanding of service learning and to collect data that we could
use to develop a community "clearinghouse" of projects for which
service learner's could be used and courses for which projects are
needed. We also would like to assess the community saturation level
of service learning students going out to serve as part of primary,
secondary, and college level class/course projects. Lastly, we'd like
to know if agencies and organizations know what SL is and how it
differs from volunteering, interning, charity work, and such.
Having conducted no community wide (county level) research such as
this before now, I'm asking if any of you know of existing surveys or
methods or reports of such that you could refer me to? You might know
of something that addresses one or more parts of our project
interests. Any and all info would be helpful.
Thanks for your time in considering this request.
