Request for syllabi from Geography
09 May 2000 15:44 UTC
Dear colleagues,
I have been working with a couple faculty in our Geography Department at
the U of MN
Twin Cities to integrate service-learning into one course that rotates in
the department
each year, an Intro to Urban Georgraphy course. We are hoping to bring
more of the
departmental faculty on board with service-learning to provide our
community partners
with more consistency and to strengthen the connections to the community
across
the undergraduate curriculum.
1) Does anyone know of people in your institutions who
teach in geography using service-learning?
2) Does anyone have syllabi for geography courses which integrate
community work?
3) I saw an article in AAHE's Peace Studies monograph on Cultural
Geography, do you know of other publications to look at in the
field.
Once again, I have looked at Campus Compact's website; the
www.csf.colorado.edu/sl website
syllabi collection and the Second Nature website collection.
I will compile and share any responses I receive with the entire list
in a couple weeks.
Sincerely,
Laurel E. Hirt
