The WESTERN REGION CAMPUS COMPACT CONSORTIUM announces the first annual
Continuums of Service Regional Conference scheduled for June 17 - 18, 1998
at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon.

The Continuums of Service Conference is open to all higher education
participants and community partners in the Western region. Participants
will work with mentors and colleagues from across the region and country to
address issues specific to institutionalizing service-learning.

A request for presenters and registration materials will be forthcoming.

WORKSHOPS AND SALONS
The Continuums of Service Conference will host interactive workshops and
salons focused on field-generated topics such as faculty development,
departmental development, evaluation, student leadership and strategic
planning. A unique aspect of the Continuums of Service Conference is the
emphasis on mentoring, networking and resource sharing among conference
participants and presenters.

TEACHER EDUCATION
A concurrent teacher education track, co-hosted by the National
Service-Learning In Teacher Education Partnership (NSLTEP), is scheduled
for Wednesday, June 17th, 1998. The one-day track will highlight 3 NSLTEP
participant programs and offer interactive sessions on topics such as
principles of service-learning pedagogy and evaluating service-learning
impacts on K-12 teachers and students. Registration for the teacher
education track will be limited to 30 participants.
