Greetings. The Institute for Community Leadership seeks K-12 and University personnel as well as individuals committed to social justice, leadership, nonviolence and creativity in education.
Education transmits cultural, political, economic and social values. Education and information without the guiding principles of love and justice, as Dr. King warns, leads to the development of “guided missiles and misguided men (and women)”. Our nation’s schools must orient themselves to this grave dilemma and challenge students, teachers, administrators and parents to carry the mantle of social justice and social uplift. Be a compass for justice today!!!
The Institute for Community Leadership (ICL) announces opportunities to work against the racial and class disparities in your community. We invite individuals and organizations to join our network of educators who work each day with organize youth to confront the racism, sexism, meanness and meaninglessness in public schools.
The Institute for Community Leadership has dynamic internship and facilitation opportunities for university students who want to challenge themselves and work for justice in education. Interested students are encouraged to contact ICL to discuss these opportunities. ICL is particularly interested in connecting with people in Washington, Oregon, Northern California and Miami, Florida.
ICL, utilizing poetry, creativity, nonviolence and community advocacy, builds the capacity of youth to advocate for social justice and work for personal change through social change.
