There are two resources available through Youth Service California
http://www.yscal.org/resources/publications.html

that address this topic.

Service Learning in California Teacher Education, 1997-2000, 2000

Struggling to Learn Better III: Portraits of Six Teacher Education Service

Subject: Teacher Education in Service Learning

I am interested in obtaining articles, feedback, etc., pertaining to
Service Learning as defined by Schools of Education. How would faculty in
Schools of Education classify pre-service experiences? Would you classify
the pre-service experience as Service Learning, Internships, etc? Any
help would be most appreciated.
