FULLTIME AMERICORPS*VISTA POSITION AVAILABLE

Community organizer will help rebuild historic theater and arts program
in a multicultural urban setting.

TrinityEncore is restoring a classic theater in the heart of a
multicultural neighborhood of Providence, RI.  Our goal is to build an
active, diverse community council to guide and advise the reconstruction
and arts program.

The AmeriCorps*VISTA position would be ideal for a person with career
interests in theater, arts, architecture, community-organizing,
fundraising, and marketing (“friend-raising”).

It requires a flexible schedule averaging 40 hours a week and offers a
living stipend just above $9,000 a year, an education award of $4,725,
child care benefits up to $300 a month, and individual health benefits.
VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) staff are not permitted to hold
other jobs nor to attend school during their year of community service.

The AmeriCorps*VISTA member will work with TrinityEncore’s executive
director to achieve the following goals:
- Set up a database with names, addresses, and interests of individuals,
groups, agencies, and funders likely to participate in this project;
- Set up and assist in meetings of the TrinityEncore board, its Theater
Development Project, community council, and any related committees;
- Coordinate communications among participants and in the community;
- Recruit and coordinate the work of, and materials needed by,
volunteers;
- Help in designing newsletters, fliers, proposals, and reports.

Requirements include excellent skills in:
- Communication, both writing and speaking on the phone or in person;
- Organization, to manage a variety of tasks and priorities; and
- Computer, including database, work processing, graphic design,
internet.
