National and Community Service Coalition Annual Meeting

The National and Community Servicer Coalition will hold a reception for
Coaltion members on Thursday, June 17, 5-7 p.m., at the points of Light
Foundation, 1400 I Street, NW.  The receiption will include an open
discussion of national and community service reauthorization legislation and
the Coalition's role.

The annual meeting will be Friday, June 18, from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in 2226
Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill. Following the meeting,
Coalition members are encouraged to visit with their Members of Congress.
To schedule visits, contact the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 to get
phone numbers for your Senators or Representatives if you don't have the
direct lines.

At 12:30, we'll reconvene in 2226 Rayburn for lunch and the second in a
series of policy dialogues, "Service As a Strategy for Education Reform."
This session will focus on service-learning in both K-12 and higher
education and will follow lunch from 1-2 p.m.

FRANK NEWMAN, President of the Education Commission of the States, will
moderate the panel.  SHEILA BAILEY from the Vermont Department of Education,
SHARON BASSETT, former Executive Director of Massachusetts Campus Compact,
and TODD ENDO, Director of the Urban Alternative will be panelists.
Additional members to be announced.

SENATOR KENNEDY has been invited to attend and will likely attend either the
annual meeting or the policy dialogue on Friday.
