The deadline has been extended for the America Reads VISTA position at the
College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University in Central Minnesota!

New Deadline:  June 11, 1999

Responsibilities:

*	To research, develop and pilot a Family Literacy Program for Albany Area
Schools community
*	Strengthen and assess the effectiveness of the current CSB/SJU America
Reads Program
*	Address and research sustainability issues regarding the CSB/SJU America
Reads Program and develop appropriate tools in response to these issues
*	Coordinate professional development opportunities for all people
involved in the CSB/SJU America Reads Program
*	Assist with overall service learning/campus-community collaboration
efforts

Qualifications:

*	College degree; either a B/A., B.S., or A.A.
*	Strong interest and experience in college community
service/service-learning
*	Knowledge of educational systems, tutoring programs, or other literacy
efforts
*	Strong organizational skills, including training, program management,
event planning, and implementation
*	Commitment to serving as a VISTA for one full year with no other
employment
*	Commitment to education of children and families
*	Ability to work in a team environment
*	Strong desire to develop personal and professional leadership
*	Self-motivated
*	Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
*	Strong communication skills (written and oral)

Benefits:

A monthly living allowance, a post-service educational award of $4,725 or $1,200
cash, health and life insurance, and student loan deferment.
