I apologize in advance if this gets double posted...
The U.S. Department of Education's Regional Educational Laboratories
will award sixty subcontracts of $50,000 each to tutoring partnerships
across the nation for the purpose of providing direct training to
Federal Work-Study and volunteer reading tutors.
Partnerships eligible for these subcontracts include colleges or
universities that collaborate with local schools, other colleges and
universities, and community and/or family literacy organizations.
Additional partners may include America Reads/Read*Write*Now sites,
AmeriCorps*VISTA programs, or other Corporation for National Service
programs engaged in improving students' reading. Both new and
existing partnerships are eligible to apply. The deadline for
applications is August 13, 1998. A copy of the Request For Proposals,
which provides more information on the subcontracts and the
application process, will be mailed to the America Reads contacts in
our database.
The Request for Proposals can also be found on-line at
http://www.nwrel.org/Americareads/rfp.html. All questions or requests
for copies should be directed to the Regional Educational Laboratory
contacts that we have posted for the training conferences. Please do
not reply to this e-mail unless you have a question that you think all
Listserv subscribers would be interested in. Thank you!
