Dear SL colleagues,

Please see forwarded email below from Dr. Christine Clark at 301.405.2841
or cclark1@umd.edu

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am writing to you to announce and offer some introductory details on the
second year of an exciting equity and diversity initiative of the Office of
Human Relations Programs (OHRP) at the University of Maryland, College Park.
The initiative is called the "Institute on Implementation and
Institutionalization" or, for short, the I3.

Building on OHRP's collaborative Ford Foundation funded Diversity Blueprint
project with the Association of American Colleges & Universities (AAC&U),
the I3 offers PRACTICAL strategies for professionals in higher education in
the development and realization of a broad-based and campus-wide equity and
diversity agenda. Additionally, the I3 will feature two "Hot Topics"
Special Segments on Selective Admissions in Higher Education one year after
the Supreme Court decision, and Hate Crime Response Protocols on Campus.

The I3 will be held July 7-11, 2004 at the Wyndham City Center Hotel located
at 1143 New Hampshire Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. If you are interested in
reviewing the I3 registration brochure and preliminary institute schedule
please contact me via e-mail so that I may send these to you via attachment
or visit the I3 website at: http://www.inform.umd.edu/OHRP/aboutus/i3.html.
Of course, please feel free to share information about the I3 with your
local and national colleagues, especially via any professional listservs to
which you subscribe.

To learn more, please contact Dr. Christine Clark, Executive Director,
OHRP, at 301.405.2841 or cclark1@umd.edu. We look forward to your
participation in the I3!
