Long-Term Temporary Position w/Benefits
June 21, 2000
The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a
long-term temporary Service-Learning Programs Coordinator to assist the
Director of Community Service Learning in providing leadership, support and
expertise in the expansion and advancement of community service learning at
the CSU.
Under general direction of the Director of Community Service Learning, the
Service-Learning Programs Coordinator will plan, organize, implement and
evaluate all grant-funded systemwide programs which include AmeriCorps and
Learn & Serve grant programs; develop new grant proposals in consultation
with campuses; facilitate the implementation of the CSU’s systemwide
strategic plan for community service learning; assist with the planning and
implementation of systemwide workshops and meetings; and support the CSU’s
community service-learning coordinators as campuses work to expand
service-learning opportunities.
This position requires bachelor's degree; 2 years’ experience with
community service learning and programs; knowledge of current and emerging
community service-learning issues; demonstrated leadership abilities as
well as experience with program development and management; strong fiscal
management abilities; strong planning and organizational skills, as well as
the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities;
good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively
in collaboration with all levels of management, staff and campus personnel;
knowledge of current computer platforms and software applications; and the
ability to travel throughout California as needed. Experience with
national service programs such as AmeriCorps, VISTA and/or Learn and Serve
Higher Education as well as demonstrated ability to develop innovative
methods to introduce community service learning into curriculum preferred.
