The University of Texas at San Antonio
Downtown Campus
Program Coordinator for Service Learning

The Program Coordinator is responsible for providing support, advice,
direction and vision for the Do It! Service Learning Program at the Downtown
and 1604 campuses.   He/she will encourage the growth and development of the
program, setting priorities in support of its mission to increase student
and faculty participation in service learning activities.  Responsibilities
include establishing and maintaining positive contact with faculty to
explore and develop opportunities to incorporate service learning into their
curriculum, providing them logistical support and resources; establishing
and maintaining positive contact with community service agencies by
conducting regular site visits and investigating new community service
agency sites when appropriate; and overseeing registration,
recruitment/orientation, referral, placement and reflection activities of
students participating in the program.  Administrative duties include
overseeing financial operations of the Do It! Service Learning Program,
assessing program effectiveness through faculty, student and agency
evaluations, developing and distributing program publicity, working with
other university departments, faculty and committees to further develop
policies and procedures that support the program's mission, researching
current literature pertaining to Service Learning and implementing at least
one leadership development program for the UTSA community per academic year.

Required:  A Bachelor's degree in a related field, with one year
professional experience in a service learning environment, developing
programs and working with faculty, students and agencies.  Excellent written
and oral skills.  Working knowledge of a computerized office environment and
all standard office equipment.
Preferred:  A Master's degree in a related field, with direct experience
with a campus-based service learning program that involves a variety of
disciplines.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Filemaker Pro database.

Base salary is $23,088 annually/$1924 monthly.  Flexible depending on
experience and qualifications.
