Emily,
Depending on what you're looking for in a textbook, you may find "THE
SERVICE-LEARNING READER: Reflections and Perspectives on Service" to be
helpful. It is an anthology of readings related to service that are
designed to help students reflect on their experiences. The articles
are not to teach about what s-l is, but rather are designed to give
students a context in which to reflect and do some critical thinking
about what they've experienced, felt, learned. It includes pieces by or
about John Dewey, Paolo friere, Nel Noddings, John Gardner, Thich Nhat
Hanh, Ram Dass, Robert Coles, Tim Stanton, and many, many more. It's
available from National Society for Experiential Education, (919-787-3263).

Good luck,
Gail Albert
