Ellerie, and anyone else interested. A professor in the
Department of Philosophy and Religion Dept. at UNI has
received a Kellogg Grant to take a look at ethics in the
nonprofit sector. The way he has formatted "Project

Vocational Exploration) has a service-learning component as
part of it. Below is a more detailed explanation. Contact

Project S.E.R.V.E.
The S.E.R.V.E. Project's first stage has three components:
1) a practicum, a service-learning ethics course in which
students combine work in a local service organization with a
seminar on relevant ethical and social issues; 2) two
semesters of Self-Study on philanthropy, volunteerism, and
nonprofits from the perspective of philosophical ethics by a
core group of faculty members, facilitators, and advanced
students; and 3) a Faculty Seminar designed by the core
group on salient issues in the field for other faculty
members and for local practitioners interested in learning
about ethical issues and nonprofits, doing research in the
area, integrating issues of nonprofits into their courses,
and in becoming faculty advisers or facilitators for
practica.
