Ellerie,
with a grant from FIPSE, our Center has worked with the
University's geography department to integrate service learning into the
discipline's curriculum. As a result, 14 of the department's 16 active
faculty teach or have taught courses with service learning components and
majors are exposed to or participate in service learning throughout their
course of study. The department has created a new award for student
excellence in service learning and for the last two years the outstanding
graduating senior has been a student with substantial leadership in
service learning. If you'd like more information, I'll be happy to send
it to you in print form. Just let me know your address. Best wishes with
your project,
