Dear Barbara,

It interesting that you asked if anyone has a service learning program
in Belize. The University of Louisville has a huge interdisciplinary
international service learning program in Belize, Central America.

The program is interdisciplianry in nature where over 12 different
units within the University work collaboratively to address real issues
in a developing nation. Presently we have faculty and students from
Medicine, Nursing, dentistry, Education, Sports Studies, Counseling
Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Justice Administration, Pan African
Studies, Communication, and Urban Planning all working in one town.

Our faculty and students serve in a consulting capacity providing
training, gathering data, and deliver other services such as medical
care from our medical and nursing teams and dental care from our dental
team. There are about 80 participants who are involved in the spring
break program. During the course of the year we have various groups
going to Belize for one week sessions. We find that regular visits are
important to ensure continuity and that we are a credible gruop who are
not there for a one-shot deal.

I can provide specific information based on your interests. Our
website is undergoiong major reconstruction but you may still be able to
get some information from it. The address is
www.louisville.edu/student/islp . I will be ahppy to provide any
additional information you may need.
