Student S-L Assistants
24 July 2002 14:40 UTC
Hello s-l listserv!
We currently operate a program that engages student leaders as
Service-Learning Assistants for service-learning faculty. These students
traditionally engage in tracking student hours, communicating with community
partners, facilitating reflection, and other needs for faculty. We're
working on developing best practices for engaging student leaders as
classroom assistants and had a few questions for faculty and other
practitioners on the list.
1. How do you foster the working relationship between student and faculty,
ensuring that the opportunity is recipricol, and beneficial to both student
and faculty goals?
2. What additional areas of support do faculty need that could be met by a
student assistant?
3. How would you best market this project to s-l faculty so that they see
it as an asset and not as a hinderance (having to supervise)?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Becky
