Position:             Corps Member

Organization: CITY YEAR CLEVELAND, an AmeriCorps national service 
organization

Education:      High School Graduates, College Graduates (All majors)

City Year is currently accepting applications for the position of CORPS 
MEMBER to serve the Cleveland community with commitment and idealism.  Serve 
from late August 2002 - June 2003.
City Year is a national service organization, which unites 17 to 24 
year-olds from diverse ethnic, educational, and economic backgrounds for a 
demanding year of full-time community service and leadership development.  
During their  year of service, City Year corps members focus on an area of 
service such as intergenerational programming, literacy, computer education, 
environmental education, or domestic violence prevention

Position Responsibilities:
• Perform physical and human service with a team of peers full-time, Monday 
through   Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:30 p.m.
• Create and implement programs that address pressing social needs in the 
community
• Participate in a comprehensive leadership development program
• Inspire potential corps members, sponsors, and other citizens with an 
enthusiasm for community service
• Participate in 15 minutes of invigorating calisthenics with entire corps 
every morning

Position Requirements:
City Year corps members are distinguished by a commitment to improving 
communities through service accompanied by a commitment to personal growth 
and leadership development.  Additional requirements include:
• Being between the ages of 17 and 24 years old
• Committing to ten months of full-time community service
• Passion for working on a diverse team of people
• Punctuality and a willingness to excel

Position Benefits:
• Stipend of $175 per week (taxable)
• Upon completion of service, $4,725 for higher education (taxable)
