service and scholarships

At Gettysburg College we're considering developing a scholarship for incoming 
first-year students that will, in part, recognize involvement in service, and 
perhaps engage scholarship recipients in education/programming on issues 
related to civic engagement.  I checked the archives for additional information 
on other institutions that offer such scholarships but found mostly requests 
for info. without the results listed.  Has anyone compiled such info. and/or 
are you willing to share a model you've been using?

I'm most concerned with the selection process used and the expectations 
connected to the receipt of the scholarship.
